Printing Systems
Printing is an often overlooked area in imaging and
document management systems. Our many years of experience in printing
systems means we always view the complete solution to your document management
and imaging needs in light of the almost certain need to print and view the
results of the imaging effort. Doing this right means understanding
not only the devices but everything that must happen to deliver predictable and
effective results.
We support most industry standard printers and offer
enhanced printing support for the Kodak Digimaster 9110/9150 (also known as the
Canon imageRUNNER 110/150), Xerox Docutech
printer/copiers, Kodak ImageSource 92P/SP, and the Océ 3165. We also
provide solutions for XML job ticketing for complete document and page level
descriptions. This allows us the flexibility to convert and retain other
standard ticketing information such as JDF.
UltraPrint
is
our client/server RIP and print-on-demand management product. The
UltraCopy application
gives you complete control of your digital duplication requirements in an easily
understood digital copier paradigm.
UltraPrint™
The Alto Imaging
UltraPrint
system is designed to provide a number of services for a production class
copier/printer system. It can be scaled in cost and performance to manage
systems up to 400+ images per minute.
UltraPrint
has many powerful layout and imposition features including n-up signatures,
booklet layout, overlays, and header/footers with sophisticated page
numbering. Another powerful feature is variable data merging using
delimited data files.
UltraPrint
Server (UPS) accepts postscript, PDF, PCL and Tiff image
documents for printing at high speeds (color and monochrome). The printing
services also include support for job and queue control as well as full
job-ticketing for controlling the production process. The viewing services allow
local previewing of the print job at the system console or as a network service
to remote clients. The server can support up to four print systems as a
single integrated printing resource (clustering).
UltraPrint
can function also as a Print-On-Demand
document database manager, or as a client to one on the network. Any document in
the local or distributed database can be recalled for viewing or printing or
modification before printing.
The
UltraPrint
Client (UPC) is a convenient tool for cataloging
documents for on-demand printing. This high-speed print-on-demand
application lets you create, modify, save, and print a collection of one or more
documents as a single book.
A user can create books (we call them bundles) containing
lists of printable files from any network accessible addresses. These file list
addresses are stored in a booklet file that can be registered in the
UltraDoc
content management system, and retrieved for printing through the UPC
itself or via a Web browser. Files may be added, removed, or reordered at any
time. One of the major advantages of this type system is the actual printable
files remain at their point of origin and don’t have to be moved around the
network as booklets are created.
In addition to the traditional driver-based printing,
UltraPrint
provides the capability to print TIFF image files directly to any image capable
printer such as the Minolta/QMS ImageServer family, the Heidelberg Digimaster
9110-9150/Canon iR110-150, the Xerox Docutech and the Océ 3165. Using
UltraPrint's
Custom Print Common technology, these and many other printers can be used with
both page-level and document-level control over input sources and
output/finishing choices.
