Recent Document List Empty

The information in this document applies to the following products:

  • Image Arranger

SYMPTOMS

No Recent Documents listed in the File menu. The words "Recent Files" appears but is grayed out (disabled).

CAUSE

Windows Recent Document History is disabled.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Alto Imaging Technologies cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps to enable the Recent Document History:

  1. Use Registry Editor to find the following registry key, if it exists:
    2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer\NoRecentDocsHistory

  2. Set the value to "0"

  3. Repeat the steps for the following key, if it exists:

    4. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer\NoRecentDocsHistory

NOTE: This setting applies to the Recent Document History behavior for all applications.

MORE INFORMATION

Image Arranger cannot maintain a Recent Document History if a computer policy prohibits this behavior.
